Hepatitis c Info: LGBT: Do you guys get tested for STDs on a regular basis?

Other people asked questions on various topics, and are still
waiting for answer. Would be great if you can take a sec and
answer them

LGBT: Do you guys get tested for STDs on a regular basis?I started having sex a year and a half ago and so far I've only gotten tested for HIV although I started doing research and on the CDC website it says that you need to get tested every year for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and Hepatitis C, and I'm gonna go get tested for that next week (although I always have safer sex and don't sleep around a lot lol)

so do you guys get tested for STDs every year or only for HIV? Share your experiences
guys & gals if you could als say if you're a man or a woman lol sometimes if the avatar is kinda vague you don't know lol
also***** aghhh hate typos lol
@Danny I used to think the same way but I was reading more about these STDs and most of them don't have symptoms and you don't know you're infected with them so I strongly advise you to go get tested, and needles are not that bad anyways, (for medical purposes not for drugs lol)
@MackP the CDC recommends universal HIV testing, so you should get tested every year for HIV even if you're straight

i luv teh fishes
I got tested around a year ago for everything and I've been in a monogamous relationship ever since. I'm going to get tested again during my annual check-up, but I don't think I have anything to be concerned about.

Edit: Bisexual female.

Okay this one is coming from a gay guy.

I am not saying this is the right way and all other ways are wrong but since you asked this is what I do.

I generally get tested for HIV twice a year and do not get tested for other STDs. I take good care of my body and assume if I had something else I would notice. I understand that it may not be the smartest way of doing it but like they say, "Ignorance is bliss."

Honestly its one less needle or swap up my urethra so I do avoid it. I think if it is a concern to you in any way you should get tested.

This is just my answer im sure there are many others.

The tests you speak of are directed towards gay men. I am a straight male, 53 yrs old and I have never been tested for AIDS and because of my lifestyle, go figure, I have never had an STD. I had a serious of test, blood etc. done at 52 and of course nothing. The average life span of a gay male is 42, so I would not advise you taking the risk unless you want to practice being straight. No disrespect, if you don't understand that the average life span of a straight male is 75 yrs old. My granny is 101 yrs old and both mom and dad have exceeded 75.

Jason
guy, lol (just in case)
at present I dont becuase I trust my man and aside from the occasional jack off session with other guys, we have no actual sexual contact with other guys.

I have had a few tests, but rarely been single so really had them done to make sure I wasnt passing anything onto my new partner

Yea, I get tested for everything at least once a year, and I'd get tested more if I wasn't in a monogamous relationship (we've arranged to get tested annually 'cause although we trust each other on the off-chance one of us does something and doesn't want to say it's better to be on the safe side). The tests aren't that bad or uncomfortable (though I'm not fond of the swabbing, lol) and I hate it when people who have multiple partners put everyone at risk by not getting tested, it's sheer laziness.
