Hepatits C question -- PLEASE HURRY AND ANSWER?My niece found out she has it -- just about a couple hours ago....she is hysterical and coming over. She was an IV drug user in the past and yes, that is bad but she's been doing well and going to college, etc....her family is not at all supportive and I love her (I know all about drug addiction so that's not the issue). What can you tell me, ANYTHING. about Hep. C and how it is contagious -- as I have a grandson who comes over too and I know people live with other with it but what do I need to be careful about and how can I help her emotionally? She's hysterical......please hurry!! Medical answers or experience PLEASE...

BUT WHAT CAN I SAY TO HELP HER -- SOMETHING POSITIVE? I know it's not a good thing but I've had cancer before (it's gone) and she knows this and I told her we can get through this too.....AND WE WILL -- POOR BABY GIRL.....I LOVE HER.

it is contagious..i believe between mucuous membranes,blood,etc..not by a cough or anything..but if she visits the doctor,she should be able to to get meds to hlep cope with her disease...Good luck! i think its wonderful you are givng her support!
