Risk of contracting hepatitis C?

Hi,I did the following:

Risk of contracting hepatitis C?I want to know realistically whats the risk, my father contracted hep C through drug use, and since ive know ive been careful to keep my toothbrush and use a separate razor than him, but before i found out there's a chance that he accidentally may have used my toothbrush once or twice (he may have never used it, im just not 100%). Im have a needle phobia (seriously its worse than my vertigo.... ) so i have been hesitant to just go get tested when im almost 100% i don't have that crap... i just want some feedback....

i don't have a precise risk percentage, but i'd say it's incredibly, incredibly small... especially considering it's believed to be a blood to blood virus - and even then the risk is low. i'd say your good to go :)

Everyone needs to be tested for hcv- whether you seemingly may have a risk factor or not....the truth is, there are millions of ways of contracting hcv. Most who have hcv don't know they have it, so with that being said, how do you know you don't have it? Everyone responds differently to hcv....not all will have noticable symptoms and others have a lot.

Also, you say you have vertigo.....I think it's time for a checkup!
Please keep in mind that many doctors just do a liver panel as part of a normal test when getting a checkup. Alt and Ast levels are not always affected by hcv, so with that, please get tested for hcv antibodies!!!!

Though using someones tooth brush is a risk factor, the chances of contracting it like that are low, not zero, but close to it. HCV needs more blood than a droplet. The big risk factors are IV drug use, snorting drugs, blood tranfusion, and getting tattoos. Anal sex is another risk factor,it is sex that is traumatic, the rectal tissues easily tear and there is blood involved with anal sex, as opposed to regular sex, which is low risk. YOu need a full Hep panel at your next blood test. A good sign is if your CBC standard liver levels are good...don't hesitate and just get the blood test, collect your negative results, and move on...
