Hepatitis c Info: Diseases from Tattoo- HELP!?

These are useful and collceted by ying!

Diseases from Tattoo- HELP!?Okay, so since apparently no one can take the time to read a question that's more than 2 sentences long, I'll make this easy. What are the chances of getting a disease (such as Hepatitis C) from getting a tattoo? I am considering getting one in Canada, and I'm scared.

Anyone is welcome to answer, but people with tattoos or with medical/nursing experience are preferred.

If the shop is unsanitary, or the staff unscrupulous, the chances are very high.

You have to go to a reputable shop, with good sanitation procedures that are actually followed. Don't go to a shop unless you personally know someone who has gone there and can recommend it.

The likely hood isn't very high. It all depends on the cleanliness of the shop, which is why Canada may not be the best idea. Honestly, if it were me, I'd go to the U.S. Whatever your choice may be, you should make sure the shop is very clean, and everything is sterilized. All the needles and inks should be in sealed packages, and your tattoo artist should be wearing gloves and disinfect the skin. Ultimately, you should be VERY comfortable with the shop, the artist, and if you're not, don't go there & find another shop, they're everywhere. :D

I have two tattoos. Tattoo parlors are suppose to use clean needles every time! So the chances of getting Hepatitis C is rare. I do not know the laws in Canada, but hopefully they follow a clean practice.

Well, Canada shouldn't be a problem. You can get a safe tattoo pretty much anywhere. The keys to a safe, disease-free tattoo are to make sure you see the needles that the artist uses come out of a sanitary sleeve. The instruments get cleaned in an autoclave and then they're sealed in plastic. Also, read reviews online of whatever shop you're looking at to see if they have satisfied customers. Anyone who got Hep C from a parlor isn't likely to leave a favorable review!

go to a place that is licsensed, and make sure to have them show you that the equipment is sterile. the needles should be out of new bags, and the inks should be poured right in front of you. you are always at risk, but these precautions just increase the chances of not getting deseases.
