Is it safe for my baby to be around someone with recessive Hepatitis C?

Hi,I did the following:

Is it safe for my baby to be around someone with recessive Hepatitis C?My aunt has had Hepatitis C for years (about 20 years). She got treatment for it, but still deals with it. My son is almost 4 months old and I still haven't taken him to see her because she wants to kiss him! I refuse to take him around because I do not want to have to worry about her getting too close to him and something terrible happening. Should I just still not take him around her ever, or will he be safe going around her if I tell her not to kiss him (I know she's gonna get offended by this when I say it cause it embarrases her) But I don't care, the safety of my son comes first. So far, she's very mad she still hasn't seen her great-nephew, but I'm so worried about her Hep C..what should I do in this situation?

yes its fine....allow her to love her nephew, allow yourself peice of mind. Hep c is blood related its not sexual nor is it from kissing or sharing saliva it is simply just blood.

You should have talked to your sons pediatrician. If you had, you would know that it can't be transmitted through casual contact.

oh_froggit
as far as i know hep c is only transferred through blood.

I take it you have seen her in the last twenty years and she has kissed you?

the only thing that could happen would be if she and he both got cut and her blood got into his body. i doubt that is goin to happen so chill and let her love your son. Good Luck

Helpful answer below. Explains the prevention, causes, symptoms, modes of transmission, and treatment of hepatitis C.
