Is there a way to find out what type of Hepatitis(B or C) you had as a child?My dad had hepatitis when he was a child (young) and the doctor that diagnosed and treated it never passed those medical records along to the primary caregiver he's had for the last 20+ years. His original doctor has passed away and he has no way of getting those records. In recent years he has been having different health problems and would like to know what type of Hep he had to see if any of it may be related, or may affect the current medicines he takes. I would appreciate any ideas, thanks!

if he was hospitalized, you may be able to get hold of records with the help of his current physician. if you request them, they will charge you, but if the doctor does, it might be done as a courtesy.
you will need to know when this occurred, since records will now be in the archives.

A simple blood test looking for antibodies against each of the viruses will tell you definitively whather you had ever been infected. These antibodies last for life and are diagnostic.
