My stepsons stepfather has hepatitis C should we be concerned about contact?The stepfather is in stage 4 and has cancer of the stomach and liver. He more than likely contracted it through IV drug use.
I was not as clear as I should have been I apologize. What I mean about contact is should we give his mother information to help not only the "shared" kid but also herself and her other children remain hpv free. We also have no intention of using this to prevent her visitation. Further we do treat his step dad with the utmost respect. We know he is in his last days.
Our real concern was that his mother wanted our son to help her with his step-fathers health needs. That is help her control him when he is out of his head, help her with the general things that happen when a person can no longer take care of their health needs.
Bedpan cleaning that sort of thing and I am not real sure she would be very attentive to that.

You only need to worry if you are sharing needles with him. It is a blood borne illness, you must have blood to blood contact.

yes be concerned. my grand mother has hep c.be sure to clean the toilet and sink with bleach after use and to be extra careful when handling things if the stepdad has a cut or anything along those lines.
